Dominic Ignatius Ekandem 1917-1995 is a book on the First Nigerian Cardinal who grew up in Ibibio Traditional Religion and cultural context, where his father, a Paramount Ruler had 33 wives and drove them away to create chance for his son Dominic to proceed to the Catholic Priesthood.

About the Author

Rev. Fr. Michael I. EDEM CM is a Catholic Priest belonging to the Congregation of the Mission/Vincentian Fathers & Brothers. He is from Akwa Ibom State in Nigeria. He was ordained a Catholic Priest by His Eminence Dominic Cardinal Ekandem in 1983 at Ifuho Cathedral, Ikot Ekpene. He obtained Diploma of Philosophy (Dip. Phil) in 1979 (Faculty of philosophy Bigard Memorial seminary, Ikot Ekpene an Affiliate pontifical Urban University, Rome); Bachelor’s degree in Theology: BD, June 1983 (Bigard Memorial Seminary, Enugu also as Affiliate of pontifical Urban University, Rome. He obtained Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy, B. PHIL, from the Gregorian University, Rome in February 1987 and completed his specialization and obtained Licentiate in Theology, STL, in June 1987, in the same University. He lectured in Bigard Memorial Seminary Ikot Ekpen from1988-1991 Ikot Ekpene as a Spiritual Director at the same time. He later obtained Doctorate Degree (Ph. D) in Theology at Salesian University, Rome in June 2000. Rev. Michael has published many books and articles in various renowned journals and Magazines likewise Public Lectures and Symposia. Meanwhile, he is working in a Parish as a Pastor of Souls.
