GENERAL INFORMATION
Rev. Fr. Michael I. EDEM CM is a catholic priest belonging to the congregation of the Mission/Vincentian Fathers & Brothers. He is from Uran Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State in Nigeria. He was ordained a priest by His Eminence Dominic Cardinal Ekandem on 16th July 1983 at St. Anne’s Cathedral Ifuho, Ikot Ekpene. He obtained Diploma of philosophy (Dip. Phil) in 1979 (Faculty of philosophy Bigard Memorial seminary, Ikot Ekpne an Affiliate of pontifical Urban University, Rome); Bachelor’s degree in Theology: BD, June 1983 (Bigard Memorial Seminary, Enugu also as Affiliate of pontifical Urban Univ. Rome. He worked as a Formator both in the Vincetian Community and as a teacher in Federal Government College Ikot Ekpene from 1983-1985. He obtained first degree in philosophy, B.PHIL, from the Gregorian Univ. Rome in February 1987 and completed his specialization in Theology and obtained Licentiate in Theology, June 1987, STL there. He lectured in Bigard Memorial Seminary Ikot Ekpen from 1988-1991 and was Spiritual Director at the same time.
He served at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Ikeja Lagos 1911 – 1992, serve as Retreat & Missions Coordinator 1992-1993, worked as a foundational member of St. Peter The Apostle Seminary, Eruku, Kwara State, 1993-1997, worked as an Associate priest at Santa Maria Madre Della Chiesa, Vigna Di Valle, Bracciano, Province of Rome and as a student at Salesian University, Rome 1997-2000 where he obtained Doctorate in Spiritual Theology in June 2000, STD (Ph. D. Salesian Univ. Rome). He came back to serve as a Rector of Saints Simon & Jude Seminary Kuje and Superior of the Vincentian Superior of Ogobia Community, Benue State, 2004-2005, Director and Superior, Blessed Ghebre Michael House, Abiakpo Ntak Inyang, Ikot Ekpene 2005-2010, Provincia Director of Eternal Covenant Missionaries, Umuechem, Etche, Rivers State Nigeria, 2013 to July 2014. He went on Sabbatical Leave to St. Marie Cathedral, Sheffield, United Kigndom Agust 2014. Rev. Michael has published many books and various journals.
